Taxiing

Can you explain for me taxiing?

--------------------------------------------------

I certainly can. Taxiing is really rather simple. All it means is the movement of an aircraft on the ground, or in the case of a helo in the air.

When a pilot calls up ATC and asks to go from the place where passengers board a plane (the apron) to the runway for takeoff, ATC will clear the aircraft to taxi via a bunch of taxiways to the active runway. It is essentially the movement of the aircraft while still on the ground.

In the case of a helicopter, they can hover taxi. In this case they follow the same taxi ways (or in some cases an air taxi route) however they are doing it while flying a few feet off of the ground instead of on the ground. The concept is still the same.

Hope this answers your question.
